Celebrate Recovery

Each of our lives is tangled up with hurts that haunt our hearts, hang-ups that cause us pain and habits that mess up our lives. Hurts, hang-ups and habits. There's not a person in the world who doesn't deal with at least one of these on some level.

The 2010 Celebrate Recovery Summit is a three day event held at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA., August 11-13. The Summit is designed to help church leaders start and grow Celebrate Recovery ministries. FBC is pleased to have 10 leaders attending - 6 returning and 4 newbies - to learn new ways to reach more hurting individuals in our church and community.

From a returning leader "About Summit. What do you want to know? That even though I have been to many, many women conferences, many Baptist Conventions, many camps as a child, many youth camps as a teenager and then as a youth Sunday School teacher and youth leader, NOTHING compares to Summit! There are thousands of adults who have been as far away from God as you can get, been rescued by His saving grace, and returned to His service, and they are all at Summit to worship Him!! There is no place you can hear more inspiring testimonies, get to know more interesting people and their stories, and worship God in quite the same awesome way!! It is "addictive" and I can't stand to miss it!!"

From a first timer "Summit, I am not sure what to expect. I have talked to others who have been before and look forward to the worship, training and fellowship. But then I was not sure what to expect the first time I came to Celebrate Recovery and it has been the best thing. I can truthfully say that CR has done more for my walk as a Christian than any sermon or lesson taught."

CR Fund Raiser
We will be publishing a cookbook to raise funds to help provide financial aid for those who will be going to the 2011 Summit. We hope you'll help us by providing some of your favorite recipes (with your name on them) to Delores, Becky, or Tracy. If you cannot locate one of them, just put your recipe on the CR information table in the Venue. Please participate - we want YOUR recipes.

PURPOSE OF THE CELEBRATE RECOVERY MINISTRIES To fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the 8 Recovery Principles.  This experience allows us to “be changed.”  We open the door by sharing our experiences, strengths, and hopes with one another.  In addition, we become willing to accept God’s grace in solving our problems.  By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually.  We become free from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors.  This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others.  As we progress through the program, we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power, Jesus Christ.

We’re excited about this dynamic, life changing environment called Celebrate Recovery. Fourteen years ago, Celebrate Recovery was developed and launched with 43 people at Saddleback Valley Community Church in Orange County, California.  It was designed as a program to help those struggling with hurts, habits, and hang-ups by showing them the loving power of Jesus Christ through a recovery process.  Today CR is gaining national recognition and churches all over America are adopting it and seeing lives changed for God. President George W. Bush said of Celebrate Recovery that it does what government cannot – it changes hearts and minds.

You can get involved and your role with Celebrate Recovery can be a part of that change.  God will use you in ways you can’t even imagine to turn lives around. God can use your painful experiences and your struggles to help others.  By working through the program, you can see growth in yourself while you are reaching out and helping others.  As you will see there are many opportunities available for service.
